Electronic Meter

Operation > Metering

Although the Electronic Yarn Meter was invented to work with our ball winder, it can also be used with our motorized skein-winder. The motor drive on the skein-winder includes a jack which runs to the EYM and then the EYM can control the operation of the motor drive.

A user would typically use the EYM if they owned one of our Swifts (which does not include the ERC) and wanted to measure the yarn being wound onto or unwound off of the swift. Because  the EYM measures the length of yarn continuously versus the ERC which measures it by converting rotations into yards or meters, the EYM attains a slightly more accurate measurement reading. However, the EYM makes contact with the yarn which adds some tension, whereas the ERC is a non-contact measurement device.
